The land of dreams; the most favoured business destination; the melting pot were the grandeur of the east meets the modernity of the west. That’s Dubai where all the excitement finds its zenith! Once the famed ‘city of merchants’, this hotspot is the most happening tourist destination in the Middle East. This metropolis has been the gateway of the Emirates to the entire world.

Infact it’s not a question of what to see in Dubai, but rather of how to live the Dubai experience! Indoors, outdoors, on the sand, in the water, the Dubai experience is not to be described but to be ‘lived’ in the real.

However there are some hotspots you wouldn’t want to miss and things you would definitely enjoy doing.

 
Rapid economic progress has not eroded the old world charm of Dubai. Its culture is still rooted in traditional Arab hospitality. This city maintains its cosmopolitan values and a foreign visitor need not fear about her safety and freedom.
 
  • Bastakiya – the oldest part of Dubai situated in Bur Dubai’.
  • Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House – a fine specimen of Arab architecture, this heritage building housing an exhibition of old photographs featuring the various stages of development in the Emirates.
  • Heritage and Diving Village – gives you a glimpse of the ancient tradition & heritage of the U.A.E.
  • Jumeirah Mosque –is a spectacular example of modern Islamic architecture.
  • Dubai Museum – housed in the AL Fahidi Fort impressively presents the multi-faceted past of Dubai’s vibrant culture and people.
  • The Historical Dubai Creek gives you the chance to cruise thought it one the famed ‘abra’ – the local water taxi – or on the wooden ‘Dhow’.
 
 
  • Hatta – this is the only mountain resort of Dubai and is situated on the foothills of the majestic Hajar Mountains, Hatta village is a picturesque and tranquil spot surrounded by palm tree groves and tiny farms.
  • Mountain Safari – takes you through the Oman territory and the Hajjar Mountains with its break taking cliffs and ochre-coloured hill tops.
  • Desert Safari – a unique chance to view the full glory of the Arabian desert sunset and spend the night at a traditional Arabian campsite with music and fun.
 
 

Dubai, the commercial centre of the U.A.E. is divided into two parts - Deira and Bur Dubai - by the Dubai Creek a natural waterfront formed from the Arabian Sea.

 
  • The World Trade Centre- one of the highest buildings in the Middle East offers a stunning panoramic view of the city.
  • Burj Dubai – now the tallest building in the world is an engineering marvel.
  • Wonderland – located near Al Garhound Bridge in Bur Dubai, this is a most modern amusement park for the whole family.
 
 
 
  • The biggest shopping festival in the world takes place in Dubai called the Dubai Shopping Festival. This month- long carnival attracts over 2 million visitors and is literally a shopper’s paradise. Shops offer discounts ranging form 20 to 50 per cent at thousands of retail outlets.

    The souks offer yet another unique shopping experience in Dubai.  

  • Gold Souk – a stroll through Dubai’s incredible Gold Souk in Deira side of the city will give you a hint why Dubai is known as ‘the City of Gold’. You will see an astonishing 10 tons of gold jewellery in every conceivable shape, design, form and karat, freely displayed and even 24 karat gold jewellery is sold daily in large quantities. What’s more, the price of gold jewellery in Dubai is substantially lower than other markets in the world.
  • Spice Souk- Here you will find saffron, frankincense, cardamom, rosebuds, red chili, cinnamon, myrrh, and other various aromatic herbs.
  • Textile Souks – Naif Souk in Deira, the old material souk and Cosmos Lan in Bastakiya, are famous for textiles from around the world. There are plenty of tailoring shops from where you get a dress or suit made to your need. 
  • Carpet Souk – Deira Tower on Al Nasr Square is the best place for carpets from Iran, Pakistan, Turkey and Afghanistan.
 
 
The Dubai experience also gives you the thrill of adventure and other sporting events.
 
  • Diving –the waters of the Arabian Gulf offer excellent opportunities for scuba diving & snorkeling. 
  • Water sports – get the thrills from wind surfing, jet-skiing, sailing, water skiing and paragliding.
  • Deep-sea fishing – a truly unique experience, this can be arranged with fully-equipped boats and crew. The Dubai International Marine Club has extensive facilities for fishing.
  • Shooting & archery – simulated or real, you get various opportunities to practice and even learn shooting and archery. The Hatta Fort Hotel has supervised clay pigeon and archery ranges. 
  • Ice – skating – believe it or not, Dubai actually has two ice rinks which operate all year round; one in Al Nasr Leisureland and the other in Hyatt Regency Galleria.
  • Horse riding – there are several active riding centers that organize rides through the desert and on the beach regularly.
  • Sand- skiing- experience something completely different in the middle of the desert on the shifting sand dunes.
  • Camel racing- is one of the traditional sports in the Arab world. This thrilling event takes place on the camel race track on Thursdays and Fridays from October to March
  • Helicopter tours –what better way to view the many sights of the city than from a helicopter.
  • Flying – airplanes may be hired form the Emirates Flying School of Dubai International Airport.
  • Indoor karting - is a great leisure activity in Dubai. You can now try your hand at Karting in the Middle East’s only indoor centre in Dubai - F1 Dubai, a fully air-conditioned karting centre with a professional team of Race Directors and Marshalls to see you through.
  • Sand Bashing - probably only Dubai gives you the true excitement of driving over the undulating sand mounds of the Arabian desert. A 4x4 vehicle takes you for the thrill of a ride that will sure pump your nerves.
